Benijofar is a cosy town located between the Costa Blanca shore and the mointains of the province of Alicante. Translated from arabic “benihofar” actually means the “son of the pearls” and it is for a reasoson it is called this way. It is a lovely small village with a charming church, a modern square, a long high street and an abundance of tapas bars, cafes and restaurants as well as some interesting little shops. There is a small street market every Tuesday morning, and a flat circular walking route to the waterwheel on the Rio Segura and the El Secano Park. The town hall is very informative, the casa de cultura offers the occasional show or exhibition and the municipal sports centre has an open air swimming pool and two tennis courts. Nearby is the urbanisation area known as Benimar. Located here are three iconic crosses on a hill which are used during the Easter Parades, and the lovely Cañada Marsa Park with lakes, plants, open spaces and some resident ducks! Next to the park are the very lively Benimar commercial centres which have a great selection of bars and restaurants. Its excellent accesses, allow you to reach Alicante airport in just 20 minutes, or enjoy the beaches of Guardamar or Torrevieja, in 15 minutes by car. Golf is also very popular in the area, with the excellent golf courses of La Finca and La Marquesa just a five minute drive from the property.
